Female Founders Investment Opportunities
According to PitchBook, despite bumpy economic conditions in 2023, “female founders and investors fared well.” Pitchbook’s research shows that “U.S. female founders secured record-high proportion of total U.S. deal value and their European counterparts raised the third-highest capital totals on record.”
Some takeaways:
U.S. female-founded companies — defined as including at least one female founder — secured nearly 28 percent of total U.S. VC deal value in 2023, which marked a notable increase over 2022’s 18.7 percent. The total VC deal value was $34.4 billion, which was down from 2022’s $44.2 billion.
The cumulative number of female-founded unicorns grew nearly 5 percent in 2023, with more than 100 companies in the mix.
2023 was especially noteworthy for female-founded unicorns organizations deploying AI and ML.
These findings underscore the traction women entrepreneurs around the world are gaining, and the investment opportunities that are available by supporting their efforts.
